A Tragedy. Poor Wally.

I don't even know where to begin. This really does suck. Badly.

It was a typical Tuesday afternoon. Krystle and I were hanging out in the kitchen after I got home from school, and the kids were running all over the place. They were playing with Fez and Wally - sometimes Morgan would take them in the bouncy house and sometimes Avery would chase them until they hid under the sofas. So at one point, Morgan said that she couldn't find Wally, so we quickly found Fez and put him back in the cage. We went looking for Wally, who has been known to disappear in crevices and fall asleep. We found him hiding in the shoes, so all was good. Morgan and Avery took him upstairs to Morgan's room to play, and Krystle and and I resumed our online shopping for jeans. I was torn because they were the perfect jeans and the perfect waist, but a little long. But I couldn't find a shorter pair ANYWHERE, so I just left the screen to sit and for my mind to ponder. As Krystle was getting ready to leave, Morgan announced, "Mommy, I'm gonna give Wally a bath!" To which I replied, "Yeah, Morgan, that's a great idea! He's stinky!" So she ran the water, I said bye to Krystle, went back to the island and decided to order the jeans, heard Morgan talking in the bathroom, so I figured all was okay, and then I entered all my information... and then what must have been only 3 minutes total I went up to help Morgan and the tub drain was closed. There was about 5-6 inches of water in the tub, and Wally was under the surface....

...no, this does not end well. Submerged under the water and with Morgan talking merrily, Wally had swallowed a lot of water. I grabbed him and quickly turned him upside down and so much water fell out of him. At the time he was somewhat conscious, but after the water drained from his lungs, he literally went limp. From that point on everything went so fast. Morgan screaming and crying, Avery saying, "Where's Wally?" Me sobbing, running down the stairs, Morgan running into her room and slamming the door, Avery following me repeating the same question over and over again, me getting to the kitchen with Wally and trying everything from pushing his little tummy and turning him upside down again to...yes...ferret mouth to mouth. Hey, you would too if your little buddy was in trouble. And I called Krystle so she would come back and help me, which she did, which was awesome because I was a MESS. More mouth to mouth and CPR...But, it didn't work. After 15-20 minutes of trying, all I could do was sob and wail for our little buddy who had met such a tragic end all because I wasn't there when he needed me. Apparently, I'm up for worst parent of the year award. Yeah, that one's all mine.

So...Krystle took the kids upstairs while I buried Wally outside, sobbing the whole way. It sucked. Badly. Poor little guy.

When I went back in, Krystle told me that Morgan thought I was mad at her...oh no! So I went in her room and she was crying, so I said, "Morgan, Mommy's not mad...she's SAD." To which, after a long pause and ceasing of crying she said, "Oh! Okay!" and smiled! Then I had to explain where Wally was and all that jazz. So here's how that conversation went:

Morgan, you know how we talked about God and baby Jesus living up in heaven and always watching over us?

Yup.

Well, God really really wanted a ferret. And He asked if Wally could please come live with him. Is that okay?

Sure!

But Morgan, that means that Wally can't come back here anymore. But he'll be very happy with God and Wally will make God very happy! Okay?

(Long pause with concerned look on her face...then her hands went out to the sides and she exclaimed with glee...)

We still have Fez!

Ah....to be 4.

So we did the most appropriate thing that we could think of...

We went out and got two new babies!

After much deliberation about their names, we decided on Bonnie (white girl) and Clyde (caramel boy). They are SO cute! Clyde is super laid back and cuddly. He barely moves! A total love! Bonnie, on the other hand, is CRAZY funny! She plays and jumps and runs and cavorts. Yes. Cavorts! Fez is cool with them and even sleeps with them. Even though I'm sure that he misses his brother, I hope that having some other furry tots to care for will give him some company! He can be a great big brother to them!

Here are some pics of the new babies:

One of Bonnie

One of Clyde

Cute, right?! The girls have been having a lot of fun initiating them into the family, and so far things seem good! But we will always miss Wally...what a good boy. Here are some somewhat blurry pictures of Avery loving on him. He was super sweet to the girls and always tolerated their love and hugs....and being put in the bouncy house!

And now for some random pictures from the last few days...

Below you will find master pedicurist Morgan - jacked her own foot up on the island to paint her toes pink! And actually, she did a pretty good job!

Last weekend this one got me up at 7 and she immediately wanted to go outside and swing! It wasn't cold. It was windy. In Avery world that requires a hat for her non-existant hair!

Last weekend was absolutely perfect. Seriously! We were outside ALL Sunday hanging out. Dan brought the Harley out back and the girls helped him clean it!

And then there's this...Beautician Avery! Don't ask. Yes. I was right there. I was getting ready for a school board meeting and she did her makeup ala watching mommy. But I think mine looked a tad better. Maybe.

Sometimes Avery likes to sit in the front seat. Especially when we drive the 50 feet to Hayden's house when it's cold! We go 5 mph and Avery thinks she's flying!

So...even though we lost Wally, and I still feel like utter poo because of it, things are okay. The new babies are bringing lots of joy and fun, and now, on a Friday night, I am so so looking forward to hanging out with the kids this weekend...hopefully to take more fun pictures and share with you all!
