Morgan took the foil off of her Dora yogurt in little pieces. With each piece that she successfully removed, she dropped it to the floor. Here's how that conversation went...
Me: Morgan, honey, be sure to pick up the trash from the floor, okay?
Morgan: Why not you do it?
Me: Well, it's not Mommy's trash. It's yours, so you have to throw it away.
Morgan: How bout Avery does it (does is pronounced doos)
Me: No, it's not Avery's trash to throw away. It's yours.
(long pause......some dancing around and twirling....I go back to working on the computer)
(out of the corner of my eye I see Morgan pick up the garbage and throw it away. I see this as an awesome opportunity to praise her good decisions so that she will continue the trend!)
Me: Oh my goodness, Morgan, that's AWESOME! I love you so so much! That's great! You made the right choice and I just love you so much for doing the right thing! (I continued in this fashion until I was interrupted)
Morgan: Mommy! Stop saying that! Stop saying I love you!
Me: Aw, Morgan, why?!
Morgan: Jeez Mommy I love you, too, but you just keep saying it and it's driving me crazy!
Crap. It begins...
